Community Library Project
Za Foundation has embarked on an exciting new project to build a community library in the Nkomazi region of South Africa. Incredibly, there are no public libraries within a 30 mile radius of our sister charity, Thembalethu. Although schools are supplied with text books, most schools lack fiction books.
Za Foundation hopes to rectify this by building a library for the whole community to enjoy. We have already recieved donations of several thousand books notably from St Katherine’s School, Pill and the Bristol branch of Soroptimists International. A successful Twitter campaign also resulted in donations of books from publishers and authors. We are now in the process of finding a disused container in South Africa which we will then convert into a library. We also intend to train some of the local women to manage the library and run story-telling sessions and classes.

Zakhele in Review
“When I first met the African people I was nervous but excited because I had never sung with foreign people before. However, then I heard them sing; they were incredible! I had never in my life heard such powerful vocals, or seen people perform with so much passion." “I thought it was a great experience. I got to meet some fantastic people, exchange cultures with them and create some amazing music! If I had the chance I would definitely do it all again.” -Feedback from Gordano School students ...
