Ten year old Arthur Willis from the Downs School, Wraxall spent his summer walking the 102 miles of the Cotswold Way in aid of Za Foundation. He was supported by friends and family along the way and even his English teacher came along for part of the walk. Donations to Arthur’s VirginMoneyGiving page totalled an amazing £4208 and included a donation from Arthur’s hero, author Terry Pratchett who expressed his amazement at Arthur’s determination to walk that distance and thought it was truly impressive. We couldn’t agree more!
Arthur was inspired to complete this walk by his passion for books and reading. He heard about Za Foundation’s Thembalethu Library at school and was moved to raise money for the project. “I love reading because I can just lose myself and forget about everything around me, ” explains Arthur. “And if I’m angry or sad I just pick up a funny book and laugh it away. I want other children to go on the same journeys in their heads that I do when I read.”
Thank you Arthur and family for your awesome achievement!
