The St Oswald Singers had its beginnings at Westbury-on-Trym Parish Church as part of the fund raising for the 1985 roof appeal and was initially a group of men’s voices. However, the slightly later addition of female voices gave the group much more musical flexibility, and from Choral Evensongs at Gloucester and Bristol Cathedrals to a performance at the Weston-super-Mare Playhouse and weddings as far afield as Stafford and Kent, the singers pride themselves on their versatility.
In recent years rather than practise on a regular basis they tend to get together for events such as this, but have a regular booking to sing at Thornbury Castle every Christmas Eve.
This wonderful singing group will be giving their first ever performance in Portishead on Saturday 27th April at 4.30pm in the High Street Methodist Church. The concert will be free although donations for Za Foundation will be gratefully received.
