Home visits that make a difference

A message from Jabilile, our After School Care Co-ordinator.

Part of the work of the after school care facilitators is to make home visits. The home visits are really helpful in identifying the social and economic challenges being faced by our community members. For instance during one such home visit, we came across a family of 10 living in a one roomed house. The guardian for that family is a grandmother who is also blind and we informed the family about the after-school club. The 4 children from that family are now attending the afterschool care programme at our centre. They are now able to be with other children and have a meal once a day from the centre. The family is really grateful for the intervention by the after-school care programme; the blind grandmother even attended the workshop organized for the parents/ guardians.
